SÔMA HIDEAWAYS

SÔMA is a hospitality brand founded in Vietnam by 932 Designs, offering bespoke hideaways that feel like home.

The calm, elevated interiors inspired the identity, drawing from local cultures to create a brand that feels rooted in its surroundings, embodying a sanctuary where travellers can unwind after a busy day in the city.

The wordmark takes cues from Chinese calligraphy, weaving brushstroke details into a minimalist sans base to form a distinctly modern logo.

Poetic and emotive typography explores the use of vertical writing found in Eastern cultures, creating thoughtful compositions that are mindful of context and space. A rich palette of warm neutrals and mellow ochre and gold ties the identity together, complementing the serene interiors.

01/            GRAPHIC DEVICE

Inspired by the shadows of the cityscape and eastern contemporary art, the graphic device uses SÔMA letterforms to create a moment of the unexpected, with a light touch to highlight.

02/           LOGO + TYPE INSPIRATION

The wordmark adopts a chevron circumflex reminiscent of the Chinese character ‘rén’ meaning ‘person/being’, subtly evoking the concept of a root or house.

The typography takes reference from the vertical writing found in Eastern countries.
